   Abstract / 摘 要    

A three-dimensional (3D) numerical model of a tandem TIG welding is developed to obtain the arc pressure in arc and demonstrate its relation with plasma jet. It has been found that there are high pressure zones in arc: below the electrodes, above the anode, the interchange of two flow of plasma, which is derived from the plasma jet below the cathode. Besides, the maximum pressure calculated on the surface of anode for the tandem TIG arc is smaller than that for the single arc. It built a basis for the application of tandem TIG arc welding.

   About the author / 作者简介    

Professor of materials and process engineering, Tianjin University at Tianjin. He received the BS (1982), MS (1986) and Ph. D. (1997) degrees from Tianjin University all in welding.
Since 1986, he has been working at Tianjin University. He published about two hundred papers and many books. He got 3 scientific research projects at the national level, 6 at the provincial and ministerial-level. He is senior member of several organizations which are committed to welding, such as Chinese welding society. His research interests include welding equipment and new process, and welding process monitoring and control. Recently he is devoted to develop a three-electrode GMAW process, which is expected to significantly improve the welding efficiency and the welding quality.

李桓(1955-),男,博士,教授,博士生导师,天津人,从事焊接工艺和电弧物理研究。
